It has been a challenging year for all Anacortes students. But, it has been especially difficult for the Anacortes High School Class of 2021 – attending all their classes online and missing out on many milestones of both their junior and senior years in high school. We also know that COVID 19 has made applying for college and learning about access to technical and vocational programs very difficult.
That is why the Anacortes Schools Foundation is especially dedicated to helping these students by providing scholarships for those wishing to continue their education through 4-year university, 2-year community college, technical and vocational programs.
Also,there are a few benefits to donors afforded by the 2020 and 2021 CARES Acts
- Taxpayers may deduct up to $300. This benefit includes any donations made (not including stocks) whether or not a household itemizes.
- Taxpayers may receive higher deductions for larger gifts. Under CARES, an individual can deduct up to 100% (previously 60%) of their adjusted gross income (AGI).
- Taxpayers aged 70 ½ or older may transfer funds directly from an individual retirement plan (IRA) to a qualified charity. Qualifying gifts count toward required minimum distributions, but are not included in taxable income (subject to limits). Donors may give as much as $100,000 directly from an IRA plan to a qualified charity.

The Anacortes Schools Foundation is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization which functions independently of the school district for the benefit of our students, educators, and community.
Created from just one family's donation in 1984, ASF now manages more than $3 million in endowments and distributes more than $240,000 annually in scholarships.
Our mission is to empower all Anacortes students through scholarships and enriched learning opportunities.
The ASF believes passionately in the importance of community awareness and involvement in our schools. We sponsor the annual scholarships ceremony where scholarships are presented to our selected students. The Anacortes Schools Foundation has been funding scholarships since 1984. These scholarships have helped thousands of Anacortes students follow their dreams and pursue education after high school.
ASF provides “scholarships” or financial support to our youngest learners. The expense of pre-school is one many of our families cannot afford. Yet, studies show that early learning opportunities can make a critical difference in a student’s academic life. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to provide full and partial preschool scholarships to families in need.
In the fall, ASF is proud to partner with the district and community partners and volunteers for the Anacortes Ready to Learn Fair, an event that provides back-to-school essentials like backpacks, supplies, clothing and more to students and families who need a little extra support. Cost for 
Funding for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) has been a focus for ASF since 2013. We work with the school district, matching STEM curriculum with grade-wide enrichment experiences like field trips and hands-on projects in the classroom.
