Anacortes Schools Foundation board members recently shared an evening with donors and friends on board the Adventuress, the 101-year old schooner operated by Sound Experience, an educational non-profit organization.

Port Director Bob Hyde (in the foreground) was among the three-dozen-plus guests who had an opportunity to help the ten-person crew hoist the sails. ASF received donations totaling more than $900 from the event last Friday (June 20) which was co-sponsored by Sound Experience, which donated the sail out of Cap Sante Marina.

“This was a great opportunity for board members to celebrate the accomplishments of the Anacortes Schools Foundation does and the programs it sponsors in our school district,” said President Art Shotwell.

The ASF currently has scholarship endowments of $2 million. It also sponsors other events such as the STEM Summer Camp for 6th, 7th and 8th graders this coming August. The STEM Committee is a group of volunteers who are working with teachers and district leavers to provide district-wide enrichment programs on science, technology, engineering and mathematics for kids in Anacortes schools.
